A Tree-mendous Bristol launch for Treetop Golf

Jungle vibes, neon lights and a launch campaign that put Bristol's newest mini-golf venue on the map.

Treetop Golf

What do you get when you combine mind-boggling immersive creativity, great food and cocktails, and a healthy dose of competitive mini-golf? Treetop Golf, obviously!

We recently had the pleasure of helping the team at Treetop launch their first ever Bristol opening in Cabot Circus just before Christmas last year, so here’s how we did it…

Competitive socialising, including activities such as mini-golf, bowling and darts, has seen a huge increase in popularity since the Pandemic, with an estimated 93% of Gen Z customers claiming they’ve partaken in competitive social activities since 2019. With this in mind, we knew there was going to be a keen interest in Treetop’s Bristol opening in Cabot Circus - it was just a case of how to get the word out to their multiple different audiences as effectively as possible.

Treetop’s audience spans a wide demographic - covering students, families, young professionals and businesses and corporate groups, so we had to consider how best to reach all of these groups, utilising press outreach and local partnerships. They also wanted to throw a special VIP launch evening with selected attendees covering all of their different audience sectors, as well as an ongoing influencer campaign to follow their opening.

What they needed

What we did

With Treetop’s wide audience demographic in mind, we created a multi-pronged strategy which comprised traditional PR, paid advertising, media partnerships, Out of Home and influencer outreach.

We created individual lists of titles and partners to work with, who would each reach a different segment of the audience - for example, we pitched press releases to local titles such as Bristol 247, whilst also reaching out to specific family and student titles, to ensure we gained a broad reach.

We also looked at strategies which would hit multiple audiences in one go, such as advising on carefully placed Out of Home in locations where there was both heavy student footfall and high rates of families and young professionals, as well as running competitions with local media partners such as Best of Bristol who we knew had a mixed, yet really relevant audience.

Alongside the more traditional PR activity, we also helped the team shape up a launch event, inviting local businesses from the neighbouring Cabot Circus area, as well as key influencers from the family, student, lifestyle and food and drink spaces to attend the VIP launch event and to visit afterwards to review.

“Working with Duchess for the launch of our 6th venue, Treetop Golf Bristol, was an absolute pleasure. Their team brought great energy, creativity, and expertise, helping us build excitement and get the word out in all the right places. From securing press coverage to organising influencer visits, they made sure our launch got the attention it deserved.

The whole process felt smooth and well-handled, and we couldn’t be happier with the results. If you're looking for a PR team that really gets it, Duchess is the way to go!”

Treetop opened their doors for their VIP launch on Monday 15th December - a notoriously difficult day of the week to host a launch at a notoriously difficult time of year, but it was arguably one of the busiest and best attended launch events we’ve done in a long time, with over 120 guests and an incredible amount of post event coverage.

In order to keep the launch ‘buzz’ going we’ve also continued to book influencers and tastemakers in for the past couple of months - something we’d always recommend for new openings to ensure a steady stream of coverage.

To date, we’ve invited 76 carefully selected creators to the launch event or to visit in the first few weeks of the opening. So far, this has generated 53 Instagram grid posts and reels, well over a hundred stories and multiple TikTok posts. This has generated a combined potential reach of over 1.6 million with a combined 149k views.

What’s more, if you search 'Bristol Golf' on TikTok our creators' videos make up 13 out 15 of the top videos.
If you search 'Bristol Mini Golf' our creators' videos make up 7 out of 10 the top videos, outranking Treetop's local competitors.

Treetop have also enjoyed a massively successful launch period, and we’ve loved seeing them so busy and bringing a new lease of life to their corner of Cabot Circus, so if you fancy getting competitive on your next date night, family day out or work social, go check them out!
