Setting New High Scores – Bitcade

Bitcade is the UK’s largest provider of custom built arcade machines and is the brainchild of Jack England, who started the business to feed his passion for nostalgic gaming experiences, including the classics that everyone knows and loves such as Pac-Mac, Space Invaders and Street Fighter. 

Bitcade first got in touch with us in September last year, looking for digital marketing support to grow their ecommerce business.

What they needed

They needed a solid online presence with multiple touch points – as a high ticket product with machines starting from £500+, customers are less likely to buy on a whim when they first see the brand and need more ‘warming up’ which is why it’s important to have a multi-channel strategy. This way, we could keep Bitcade front of mind to take customers on a journey from firstly making them aware of the brand right through to a purchase decision.

    The Execution

    We ran several extremely successful Facebook and Instagram advertising campaigns which not only enabled us to find and reach new customers, it also allowed us to deploy sophisticated retargeting strategies which were highly effective at converting sales. What’s more, the social advertising also worked in conjunction with the Google advertising campaign that was already running to create a digital omnipresence and allowing Bitcade to follow customers around the web..

    For the prospecting campaigns, we harnessed the power of the Facebook pixel by targeting lookalike audiences as well retargeting those who had engaged with previous content or added a product to their online basket but had not gone on to purchase.

    We also managed the organic social for Bitcade, posting regularly on Instagram and Facebook to populate the feed and keep front of mind and promote the various machines, upgrades and customisation options and business USPs. We also ran a highly successful competition on Instagram giving away a free Bartop Arcade Machine as the prize to build up the Bitcade database so that we could set up a subsequent email campaign to promote two new products launching into the Bitcade range.

    The Results

    We have seen some absolutely phenomenal success via Facebook advertising – with the most successful month generating 34 purchases to the value of over £37k from an ad spend of just £1.2k – giving a return on ad spend of 31.02! 

    The email marketing campaign was again really successful, with an open rate of 45.5% which is well above average (over 10%) in comparison to competitors in the industry. It also generated a click rate of 6.9% – which again, is much higher than the industry standard of 5.6%.
